We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced commodity buyer to join our team.

Buyer Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively pursue new suppliers for existing product and qualify for production business including site visits, quality reviews, competitiveness, location, etc
  • Prepare quote package for prototype and production business
  • Analysis of supplier quotes for landed cost
  • Complete strategic analysis and make price / profitability recommendations per part including program life financial analysis
  • Lead for price negotiations
  • Implement and manage all Long Term Agreements and Supply Agreements
  • Manage all indexing programs and directed supplier programs
  • Contract review (Terms & Conditions, Payment Terms, Nondisclosure Agreements, etc)
  • Work with Plant MP&L departments to improve processes for ordering and tracking commodity shipments and inventory
  • Work with Plant MP&L departments to manage risk associated with shipments
  • Lead for understanding commodity market and changing conditions as well as supplier costs
  • Business Release System inputs for quote responses internally (pricing, packaging, freight, assumptions, recommendation, etc)
  • Document all transactions with suppliers including maintaining detailed records of all commercial transactions
  • Insure issuance of purchase orders and contracts by timelines indicated
  • Resolve open commercial issues in a timely manner
  • Active participation in TMD program team meetings
  • Develop and maintain a list of cost reduction ideas with supply base and Advanced Manufacturing Manager to meet internal targets
  • Relationship building with suppliers and internal customers
  • Team oriented approach within the purchasing department, with other departments, and with the manufacturing facilities
  • Support TMD business processes as required (APQP, TS16949, Budget, Business Plan, BRS, OCI, Program Management, Pre-Quote Reviews, etc)Required

Buyer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Minimum 4 years experience in purchasing resin for an automotive manufacturing company
  • Familiarity with OEM resin approval process
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead groups or large project teams
  • Excellent cross functional, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Windows / Excel / Word
