Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will oversee and direct quality activities in the area of capability studies, dimensional checks, material testing, product inspection, print changes, and process/product documentation and in order to obtain optimum productivity and quality levels while complying with customer specifications. The Quality Engineer is to provide quality support to internal and external customers. Responsibilities will include documentation of processes, procedures and equipment; coordinating the completion of all quality function tasks and the resolution of all quality issues in a timely and robust fashion. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing quality support within the new product introduction project team for all aspects of a project from final design release through Job #1 and play a key role in providing technical support to the customer.

The primary responsibility will be to achieve premium levels of customer satisfaction for product and service supplied by the plant through operator awareness, appropriate inspection, audit programs and continuous improvements and customer visits to the plants for monitoring and feedback. In addition, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for achieving product target cost, efficiency, and quality for existing products.

Also, this position will be responsible to lead the plant in customer satisfaction, PPM reduction, and quality system development. The Quality Engineer will be required to support multiple projects and work with the plant to maintain third party registration to TS16949 standards and obtain customer quality awards and certifications.

Job Functions

  • Support project launch strategy

  • Work with team to develop processes, establish process documentation and controls, and plant training needs of the new project
  • Assist with training of production personnel of processing and quality standards
  • Ensure product conforms to customer engineering standards
  • Support and develop process documentation Coordinate problem solving of quality issues, as required
  • Review component supplier performance and submission
  • Determine possible quality problems and prepare a list of concerns to be discussed with the launch team
  • Monitor customer concerns/rejections during pre-production and after Job #1
  • Perform capability studies via CMM and problem solving inspection
  • Work with tool and part suppliers on PPAP requirements and submission
  • Review and approve supplier PPAP package
  • Support elements of TS16949, APQP and PPAP
  • Gage R&R studies, procedures and certification
  • Review of production quality performance with Quality Manager/Supv.
  • Assist Engineers in development of FMEA, and process flowchart
  • Work with the team to develop processes, tune-in equipment and tooling. Establish process controls, assist in training of new projects

Qualifications

  • BS in a technology or engineering
  • Five years quality experience in the automotive industry
  • Highly motivated, able to communicate effectively with both customers and peers
  • Have the ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm, thorough time conscious manner
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to motivate others is a must
  • Attention to detail is required to ensure that quality targets are met on the full range of products

Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in the Toledo, OH location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Total Forward Model Engineering and project responsibility for programs that will be manufactured at remote TMD locations (Celaya MX, Fayetteville TN, Reidsville NC, Beloit WI)
  • Work w/Sales Account Managers to resolve commercial issues
  • Interface with customer engineering to identify, address, and resolve open issues.
  • Assess part and tool design feasibility, document results.
  • Authorize, specify, and follow tooling required for programs including molds, secondary and assembly equipment for finishing parts, check fixtures, etc.
  • Manage project aspects to qualify for production (APQP, PPAP) using timelines and other Project Management tools
  • Work with other departments as needed to communicate program details and timing requirements. Lead meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide onsite plant support for sample and launch events. Work with plant personnel as needed to qualify tooling & prepare for successful launch.

MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL FREQUENTLY & ON A REGULAR BASIS TO REMOTE TMD PLANTS.

Qualifications include:

Production Operators

Toledo Molding and Die, Inc. is currently looking for PRODUCTION OPERATORS to join our outstanding team.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow written process instruction sheets.
  • Account and record production and scrap counts.
  • Operate a molding press or assembly line operation.
  • Complete auxiliary operation including but not limited to assembly and decoration work, heat staking, stapling, etc.
  • Inspect parts to meet customer quality standards.
  • Use hand tools including: knives, nippers, and torque guns.
  • Maintain production speed on or in support of assembly line/customer requirements.
  • Pack parts into boxes with accurate counts of pieces per layer/box/skid.
  • Keep and record accurate SPC and scrap records.
  • Help move equipment and part set-up during process change.
  • Maintain plant and area cleanliness.
  • Reject contaminated or damaged end item dunnage. Return to shipping for cleaning or repair.
  • Other supervisor directed tasks.
  • Remove and clean contaminated dunnage.
  • Complete required documentation as needed for job.
  • Operate bar code scanners as needed.
  • Sweep floors.
  • Clean machinery.
  • Rework, inspect, and/ or repack parts.

Maintenance Technician

TMD Delphos Plant is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians as a result of recent business expansions. Individual responsibilities include general repair and preventative maintenance on plastic injection molding presses, as well as auxiliary equipment. 

 Successful candidates must possess previous experience with changing injection molding tools, plastics processing, electrical wiring including 240 and 480 volt, pneumatics, hydraulics and programmable logic controllers.  Candidates should also possess vocational or technical certification in Mechanical/Industrial areas. Successful applicants should have a work history that includes good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work within a diverse group as a Team Player. Applicants must be willing to work the afternoon or midnight shifts. 

Process Technician

TMD is locating a new injection and blow molding plant in the Fayetteville, Tennessee. We have an excellent opportunity for experienced Process Technicians to join our start-up team in establishing our presence in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

The Process Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for all aspects of production. Responsibility for new products begins with the first production build via customer production releases.

The primary responsibilities will be to troubleshoot injection and blow molding process and make adjustments to the process to increase overall quality and productivity goals as established thereby obtaining optimum productivity and quality levels while complying with customer specifications.

In addition, the Process Technician will assist in achieving product target cost; improve efficiency, identifying possible production problems for existing products. Monitor the input and output variables of the process, including advanced product inspection, optimizing product and process quality consistent with the company’s Total Quality Systems, procedures and customer requirements.

Job Functions

  • Support and enforce with consistency the plant safety process and rules, local labor agreement and Toledo Molding & Die policies and procedures.
  • Provide support for all pre-production builds requiring components and/or services from the manufacturing site.
  • Assist with training of both technical and production in processing standards.
  • Ensure that all products are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications and approved processes.
  • Assure that production schedules are met. Act with a high sense of urgency, in particular with respect to customer needs.
  • Achieve project expectation and requirements for all elements of PPAP, TS16949 and ISO 14000.
  • Weekly program status reports (i.e., performance, open items, corrective action plans, etc.).
  • Maintain technical log for product/processes assigned, as required.
  • Maintain records for primary tools (molds) and selected secondary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot injection molding process and correct where deviant. Adjust closed-loop process control systems where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot robotic unloading; provide enhancements to increase robot system efficiency and performance.
  • Enhance the process to increase cycle efficiency, press performance, tool performance, operator performance, and material performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues with secondary equipment (post molding assembly)
  • Provide technical instructions to maintain part stability.
  • Provide detailed and structured documentation of process corrections and enhancements as required and/or assigned.
  • Measure outputs and evaluate process control and capability.
  • Troubleshoot out of control conditions, machine deficiencies and product non-conformities.
  • Responsible for new mold start up, sampling, process trouble shooting, optimizing cycles and set-ups as well as performing molding and machine safety checks.
  • Assist with mold/color changes
  • Develop process improvements through employee involvement and support all plant continuous improvement efforts as assigned.
  • As required provide leadership and direction to production employees by actively working with and effectively communicating to ensure quality product.
  • Function as a Team Member of the Shift Technical Team, supporting processing and quality needs in a Lean Environment Actively participate in and support the implementation and maintenance of the company’s documented quality system as appropriate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Ensure strict compliance with plant housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain a plant culture that embraces the values of honesty, trust, mutual respect, employee involvement and flexibility.

Qualifications Desired:

  • High School degree required, some college a plus.

  • Automotive industry experience.
  • Hands-on processing skills including new mold startup, sampling, troubleshooting, optimizing cycles, set-ups.

Maintenance Technician

TMD just built a new injection molding plant in Beloit, Wisconsin. We have an excellent opportunity for experienced Maintenance Technicians to join our team. Toledo Molding and Die will be supplying the Fiat-Chrysler assembly Plant in Belvidere, Illinois.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing and facilities maintenance , preferably in automotive parts manufacturing and/or blow molding required
  • Must have basic experience in programming/troubleshooting A-B PLC controlled systems and hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repair in the following areas: electrical/electronic systems, and pneumatics
  • Strong background in hydraulic systems repair/troubleshooting is required

Process Technician

Manufacturing Engineer

TMD is locating a new injection plant in Beloit, Wisconsin. We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineer to join our start-up team in establishing our presence in Wisconsin.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for their assigned manufacturing processes and new product launch project management. Through input from the customer, corporate support groups, plant staff, and production employees the Manufacturing Engineer will review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodology and Kaizen activities, participate in the development of cell layouts, set up reduction (SMED), lead time reduction and improve productivity through waste reduction. In addition the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for achieving product target cost, improved efficiency and identifying possible production problems for existing products within their scope of accountability.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved with helping to determine project capital needs, launch strategies, project timing, process flows, labor and machine standards as well as proposed plans for changes to the process, equipment, molds, and tooling to ensure reliability and compatibility with existing Toledo Molding and Die standards/systems.
